Sleeptracker App FAQ

Notice

Why can't I adjust my bed with the remote control?
If you have taken delivery of your smart bed and haven't downloaded the Sleeptracker application, you may find that you are unable to flatten your bed with the remote control. When setting up your smart bed from the Sleeptracker application through the intro flow, the app will update the firmware of the bed. This update will address issues with adjusting your bed with the physical remote control. If you haven’t downloaded the Sleeptracker application and updated the firmware of the bed you can alternatively unplug the Sleeptracker processor under your bed. The processor is attached to the bottom of some beds and loose on other beds. It is the plastic box about 4.5" x 3.75" with ethernet jacks and a label on top. Temporarily unplug the power supply from the processor to restore adjustability with the remote control. Once you download the Sleeptracker app, plug the processor back in and follow the on-screen instructions to download the processor firmware update.

The SmartMotion Base and Sleeptracker app work with any adjustable compatible standard innerspring, foam or memory foam mattress. The Sleeptracker System has been tested and qualified with Simmons Beautyrest and Serta mattresses.
Does the app track and store sleep data for both my partner and myself?
Yes, your partner and you will each have unique Sleeptracker accounts that monitor and store sleep data. During the app setup, it will ask you to specify which side of the bed you sleep on, allowing it to distinguish you from your partner. If you switch sides of the bed, simply update this information in the app.
What if I have a pet that sleeps on the bed?
Pets at the foot of the bed should not affect your heart rate or respiratory rate data, but if they get up and move during the night, they could affect your sleep data.
What if I switch sides of the bed?
If you or your partner switches sides of the bed, simply update this information in the app.
What if I switch to a new phone or tablet?
If you get a new device, you won’t lose any of your data. Simply download the app on your new device and sign in to your existing Sleeptracker account.
How do I replace a broken cable or processor unit?
The Sleeptracker System uses normal cables that can be purchased in all electronic stores. To replace the processor unit, you will need to contact Ergomotion support.
Do I have to wear a specific device to bed?
No, the Sleeptracker System does not require you to wear any device. The sensors are integrated into the Base.
If I already have an account history with an old Base, can I pair with a new base and transfer all my settings and sleep data?
Yes, you can pair an existing Sleeptracker account to a new SmartMotion Base. To do so, login to your account and go to Settings > Manage Smart Bed > New Smart Bed.
What if my power goes out briefly overnight?

What if my partner and I only have one phone or tablet for both of us?
Both Sleeptracker accounts can be accessed from the same device. The Sleeptracker app will display the data of whichever user is logged in. To see data associated with another account, simply go to Settings > Account and login to a different account.
What if I don’t have Internet?
The Sleeptracker System requires access from the bedroom to an Internet-enabled home WiFi or LAN network, otherwise it will not be able to function.
Does my phone need to be on overnight?
No, the SmartMotion Base will still collect all data if your phone is off, but Sleeptracker alarms will not work. Your phone only needs to be on to start or end your sleep recording.
Does my phone need to be in the same room as me to track my sleep?
Your phone does not need to be in your room to track your sleep. Once your sleep recording is started from the same network as your bed, your phone does not need to be in the same room. However, to hear your Sleep Cycle Alarm you will need the phone close to you.
Does my phone need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network overnight?
No, your phone does not need to be connected to Wi-Fi overnight, but will need a cellular or Wi-Fi connection to use the Sleep Cycle Alarm and stop your recording. If no Sleep Cycle alarm is desired, Wi-Fi can be turned off once the sleep recording is started.
How can I restore my Sleeptracker information on my phone after a factory reset (or onto a new phone)?

I have a queen / king bed and see a round 5 pin DIN cable only plugged into one of the Sleeptracker sensors under the head of my bed. Should there be a similar cable plugged into the other sensor?
The round 5 pin DIN cable only needs to be connected between one sensor and the bed control box for queen beds and king beds with a single mattress. This cable allows the bed remote control within the Sleeptracker app to communicate with the bed’s motor controller. Split king beds with two mattresses allow each side to adjust independently and should have a DIN cable connecting each Sleeptracker sensor to the motor control box.

Wifi Issues

Does my local Wi-Fi network’s SSID need to be broadcast in order to use Sleeptracker?
Yes, in order for your smart bed to function, your local Wi-Fi network needs to broadcast its SSID or Wi-Fi network name. Hidden networks are not compatible.
Can I control the Base remotely?
Yes and no. Your control device needs to be connected to the same WiFi network as your bed in order to control it. So, you can control the Base for as far as the WiFi network extends.

I made a change to my home Wi-Fi network and now my Sleeptracker app won’t connect to my bed. What should I do?
The Sleeptracker app connects to your smart bed using your home Wi-Fi network. Your smart bed also connects to the cloud using your home Wi-Fi. If you make changes to your home Wi-Fi network such as changing the name or password, the Sleeptracker app and cloud will no longer be able to communicate with your bed. To fix this, first power off then on your smart bed processor. The processor is either attached to the bottom of your bed near the head of the bed or on the floor next to your bed depending on the model of bed you own. It’s about 4” x 3” and has a label on top. Remove the power cable from the back of the processor for 5 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait at least 2 minutes for the processor to reboot, then from within the app, select Menu>Manage Smart Bed>Connect to a Smart Bed and select “New Smart Bed”. Follow the instructions provided to add your bed to your updated Wi-Fi network.
I use MAC address filtering on my home WiFi network. Where do I find the MAC address of the Sleeptracker smart bed so it can be given access in my router settings?
On the bottom of the Sleeptracker Processor, there is a label with addresses for MAC 1 and MAC 2. Use the MAC 2 address if you would like to white list the WiFi MAC address of the Sleeptracker smart bed on your home network. The Sleeptracker processor may be attached under the head of the bed on some models and separate from the bed on other models. It is a black plastic box a little larger than a deck of playing cards with power and ethernet cables plugged into it.

What is the Sleep Cycle Alarm?
The Sleep Cycle Alarm wakes you during your lightest phase of sleep in a given window of time, allowing you to feel more refreshed throughout the day. For example, if you need to wake up at 7AM and you set a 30-minute Sleep Cycle Alarm window, the alarm will wake you between 6:30AM and 6:59AM when the system detects you are in a light phase of sleep, or it will wake you no later than 7AM if the system does not detect a light phase of sleep.
How do I select an alarm tone for the Sleeptracker alarm?
From the app’s home screen, select Settings > Sleep Cycle Alarm > Wakeup Music, and then select your desired alarm tone.
Can I use Sleeptracker for napping?
Yes, Sleeptracker is designed to detect any period of time when you are asleep in your bed.
What is Dynamic Coach?
The Dynamic Coach is an app functionality that provides useful tips and insights to help you incrementally improve your sleep over time. These tips and insights become more personalized and tailored to you as you use the app over time. For example, the app will learn what time you typically go to bed, how fast you fall asleep and how much sleep you typically get; the Dynamic Coach can then notify you when you deviate from your routine to help guide you to a more restful night’s sleep.
How do I reset my password if I forget it?
Launch the app and go to Settings > Account > Already have an account > Forgot password, and enter the email address associated with the user account. Then follow the email instructions you receive.

Will Sleeptracker let me know if I have sleep apnea?
Sleeptracker is not a medical device and is unable to determine if you have sleep apnea.
Can I view a graph of my HR throughout the night so I can see what my HR is in deep, light and awake states?
Yes, you can! From the home page tap the graph icon, then tap the heart icon. If you press and slide your finger left to right on the graph, you'll be able to view your heart rate (HR), the red line, at different times throughout the night.
Can I view a graph of my respiratory rate throughout the night so I can see how my breathing rate changes in deep, light and awake states?
Yes, you can! From the home page tap the graph icon, then tap the heart icon. If you press and slide your finger left to right on the graph, you'll be able to view your respiratory rate (RR), the blue line, at different times throughout the night.
Does the Sleeptracker work in every position the adjustable base can move to?
For the Sleeptracker system to work, the sensors in the adjustable base need to have good contact with the mattress. The range of angles for which the Sleeptracker system will work depends on the base and mattress. If the base has lumbar or head tilt adjustments engaged, the Sleeptracker system may have trouble maintaining contact with the mattress. Vibration motors also need to be off before your sleep can be recorded.

Sleep Data and Information

How does the cloud backup my information?
Your data is associated with your account within the Sleeptracker cloud. If you get a new device, simply sign into your account and you will see all your recorded data.
How does my SmartMotion Base track my heart rate?
SmartMotion captures the motion generated from your heart beats and respiration cycles with highly-precise sensors in the Base.
What is resting heart rate?
Your resting heart rate is how many times per minute your heart beats while you are at rest. Resting heart rate is an indicator of your basic fitness level and a strong predictor of cardiovascular health. A healthy adult range is between 60 and 80 bpm, while athletes can have a resting heart rate as low as 30 bpm.
Are there impacts that can affect the accuracy of my heart rate reading?
Due to the sensitive nature of the heart rate measurement, outside sources of motion can affect the accuracy of the reading. For example, if your adjustable Base has a vibration mode, your heart rate will not be readable while the vibration motors are running. Kids or pets on the bed may also interfere with the reading.
When I know I’m not sleeping, the Sleeptracker graph has shown me as being in a sleeping state. Why?
When in bed relaxing, it is not uncommon for your heart rate, respiration rate and motion to be very similar to when you are sleeping. Under these conditions, the sleep graph may show you as asleep. Without more invasive measurements of your brain activity, it can be difficult to distinguish between a calm relaxed state and actual sleep. In most cases, having trouble falling asleep results in some form of restlessness such as tossing and turning, elevated heart rate or respiration rate which will be picked up by Sleeptracker as being awake.
What impacts my heart rate?
Everyone’s heart rate is different, so there are many factors that can affect it, including stress and diet.
Can I share my sleep information with others?
Currently, there is no option to share information with other users. We are working on adding this feature for later versions.
How do I improve my sleep score?
The Sleeptracker System is designed to help you determine how you sleep best. The Dynamic Coach will give you tips created specifically to help you sleep better and improve your sleep score.
What is the difference between light, deep and REM sleep?
Light and REM sleep are considered to be closer to wakefulness than deep sleep. Deep sleep is characterized by a lack of prominent eye movement, a lack of bodily movement and decreased cerebral blood flow, with associated changes in heart rate and respiration rate. Sleeptracker technology differentiates between these sleep phases by monitoring movement, heart rate and respiration rate.
How does Sleeptracker develop coaching recommendations?
Sleeptracker analyzes your personal sleep data to develop unique coaching recommendations personalized just for you.
How is my sleep efficiency calculated?
Your sleep efficiency is calculated by measuring how much time you spend asleep vs. the overall time you spend in bed during the sleep recording.
How long does it take to get an accurate heart rate and breathing rate?
An accurate measurement of heart rate and respiration rate requires 30-45 seconds while lying still on the bed.
